Adjustable Rear Shocks for Sprinter 3500
THE SPRINTER DOCTOR TESTS THE NEW
SUPERSTEER ADJUSTABLE SHOCKS FOR SPRINTER 3500 CHASSIS
If you drive a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500, you know how important stability and comfort are—especially when your van is converted into a motorhome like the Tiffin Wayfarer. The factory shocks do an okay job, but once you hit uneven parking lots, off-camber turns, or bumpy bridge approaches, that “rock and roll” sway becomes hard to ignore.
That’s where the new SuperSteer Adjustable Shocks come in.
Recently, the Sprinter Doctor, a well-known YouTuber and Sprinter expert, put these shocks to the test in a detailed video review. His mission: see if our new SuperSteer/KONI collaboration truly makes a difference on the road.
Engineering You Can Feel:
SuperSteer partnered with KONI, a global leader in shock absorber technology with over 150 years of experience building components for racing, rail, defense, and heavy-duty vehicles. Together, our engineers designed a shock specifically tuned for the Sprinter 3500 chassis—with adjustable rebound control to let drivers fine-tune their ride and handling to their liking.
In his review, the Sprinter Doctor installed the shocks on a 2025 Tiffin Wayfarer and ran a series of real-world tests to compare the stock suspension to the new setup.
Real-World Testing: From Parking Lots to Freeways
To measure the difference, he built a simple but clever test rig—a tube with a steel ball inside mounted on his dash—to visualize body roll and sway. He then drove the same test route twice:
- First, with factory shocks.
- Then, with the SuperSteer shocks set to their stiffest setting.
The results were clear. On the factory shocks, the Wayfarer rocked noticeably through driveways, parking lots, and bridge transitions. With the SuperSteer shocks installed, the improvement was immediate.
“It feels a lot more stable,” the Sprinter Doctor said.
“There’s a lot less sway, especially when pulling in and out of parking lots or passing trucks on the highway. You don’t have to fight the steering wheel nearly as much.”
He noted that the ride felt tighter and more controlled without harshness—especially valuable for taller, heavier RV builds.
Why Adjustable Matters
Each SuperSteer rear shock is rebound-adjustable, meaning you can fine-tune the damping to your specific vehicle load, driving style, or comfort preference. The Sprinter Doctor set his to KONI’s recommended stiffest setting (1¼ turns) for the test and noted how much difference that adjustment made in reducing sway and body roll.
At around $250 per shock, it’s one of the best-value upgrades for improving Sprinter handling and driver confidence, particularly for RV owners who spend long hours on the highway.
