SuperSteer® SS403RR Radius Rods for Ford F53 V10 16-26k GVWR 2008-2020

When you add Radius Rods to your Ford F-53 Motorhome, it will help to control movement in the front leaf spring bushing. The front to back flexing will be reduced and you will also experience improved cornering. Radius Rods are designed to stop the forward and rearward movement of the front suspension. There is a lot of flex in the leaf springs and the spring eye bushings.

The Radius Rods will make the steering more responsive and reduce sawing at the steering wheel in sweeping turns. An additional benefit is an increase in stability. The SuperSteer® Radius Rods are a solution to common Ford F-53 problems including, Sway and Body Roll, Steering Play, Wind Buffeting, Road Wander and Rut Tracking.

Applications:

Ford F53 V10 with 16,000 lb GVWR (2008-2020); Ford F53 V10 with 18,000 lb GVWR (2008-2020); Ford F53 with 20,500 lb GVWR (2008-2020); Ford F53 with 24,000 lb GVWR (2012-2020); Ford F53 with 26,000 lb GVWR (2012-2020)

Application Notes:

This product may fit earlier model years than 2008 if front Sumo Springs are not installed, but fitment should be verified before attempting installation. The SS403RR is designed to fit the V10 Ford F53 chassis. If you have the new V8 Ford F53, please use the SS404RR.

Radius Rods will interfere with the front sway bar if the "Cheap Handling Fix" has been done. We do not recommend changing the angle of the endlinks. The second hole in the sway bar is not meant as an adjustment point and will cause excessive force on the endlink, sometimes resulting in breakage.

This kit will NOT fit on vehicles with front airbags equipped.

This kit will NOT fit with a Hellwig front sway bar upgrade. Our radius rods are only compatible with the Roadmaster and SuperSteer® front sway bar upgrades. See photo below of incompatible Helwig end link example:

Some older model front SumoSpring applications interfere with the installation of the Radius Rods. If you have questions about the interference, please send photos to: sales@supersteerparts.com

In my opinion these are a must have. They made a huge difference my coach wondering. Wish I would have purchased them sooner. -Richard M

Thanks John: Purchase of the SS403RR saved my motorhome, was going to get rid of it because it drove so bad, (F53 chassis) now no more shaking in the steering wheel, rides in a straight line, more stable when trucks pass, it’s a day and night change in handling . Best product ever, a must for older F53s. -Tom Cimino

I've added just about every upgrade to my suspension and jumped at these when they came available last year. My initial trips of several hundred miles into flat Florida really made me question if they were worth it as I really didn't notice much of a difference as my 2019 coach drove pretty well already after upgraded sway bars, track bar, sumos, konis, steering stabilizer. I'm now 4500 miles through a 5000 mile trip including mountains in CO WY MT and various routes across the windy plains. It is an incredible difference compared to the last trip this way - the sawing on the steering wheel as a result of wind pushing is almost completely gone. Much, much more stable in gusty and steady wind. Very happy with the stability they added and definitely feel like it was worthwhile investment. -Mike

Installed and felt difference right away

Earlier this year I had some work on my 2017 Newmar Class A motorhome with a Ford F53 frame. The sway bars and Koni shocks they added at that time made a big difference in the motor homes ride. However, I still felt like when driving the motorhome it was more a function of making constant steering corrections rather than just being able to drive the vehicle smoothly. I recently had the Radius Rod kit put on this motorhome. First, they did a pre-test drive which I went along on so that we could have a baseline of how the motorhome steered before the installation. After the Prototype was installed we again drove the motorhome. I did part of the return drive and immediately noticed that on a long curve I was not constantly making steering wheel corrections while traveling through the curve; rather I was just holding the wheel and traveling through the line of the curve. And the constant steering corrections in the straightaway portions of the road were reduced by about 80%. After leaving the shop and heading home on a 250-mile trip it became apparent that I now was driving with one hand instead of two and felt like I was finally in control of the steering and direction that the motorhome was going. I also noticed that steering felt more responsive and there was less sway in all of the turns. About halfway home I received a call from the owner of SuperSteer to talk about how things were going with the new installation. This kind of attention to their work is why I am very pleased to recommend them.

Absolutely fixed the annoying F53 front leaf spring noise -Ben

Use it on my motorhome in conjunction with other sway bar mods. It added better handling under hard breaking and rough rods. Great control item for the F-53 Ford chassis. Now my wife can drive it easily and releaves me on long trips. -Jim Razor

These made a night and day difference in the handling of my Class A motor home. It is a pleasure to drive now. Highly recommend these.

Easy installation, simple to follow instructions and excellent installation video provided online. Installation took about an hour with simple rod adjustment. Haven't driven the motorhome too far to make an honest assessment of functionality but steering seem to hold straight so far. -John R. Bechtoldt
