Freightliner XC Chassis
The Freightliner XC motorhome chassis is a popular choice for Class A diesel pushers, known for its robust build, smooth ride, and high-performance capabilities. Built on a heavy-duty steel frame, the XC chassis features a rear-engine configuration that offers improved weight distribution, quiet operation, and excellent towing capacity. It comes equipped with air ride suspension and air brakes for enhanced comfort and control, making it ideal for long-distance travel. With multiple engine options, including the Cummins ISB and ISL series, the XC chassis delivers both power and reliability, supporting larger, luxury motorhomes with ease. The Freightliner XC motorhome chassis is available in several rail configurations, including XCR, XCS, & XCM, to support a wide variety of motorhome designs and floorplans. These configurations refer to the positioning and shape of the frame rails, which impact things like under-floor storage, ride height, and compatibility with slide-outs or basement features.

How do I know what front suspension I have?
To tell the difference between an I-beam front suspension and an independent front suspension (IFS) on a Freightliner XC motorhome chassis, start by looking underneath the front of the coach. An I-beam suspension features a large, solid steel beam that spans across the front axle, connecting both front wheels. In contrast, an IFS setup allows each front wheel to move independently. There is no solid axle connecting the wheels—instead, you'll see separate control arms and tie rods, making the area behind each front wheel appear more complex. On some Freightliner XC models 2023 & newer, you may have the VFS I-beam instead of the classic I-beam. If you're unsure about how to tell the difference between the different front suspension types, we recommend looking at the chassis build sheet on www.fcccrv.com or contacting Freightliner with your VIN number.
